Who is Thomas Strunz?

Thomas Strunz is a German football coach and former player. He is the current head coach of FC Ingolstadt 04 in the 2. Bundesliga.

Strunz was born in Mönchengladbach, Germany, on August 11, 1968. He began his playing career with Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1985. He played for the club for 10 seasons, making over 200 appearances.

In 1995, Strunz moved to Bayern Munich. He played for the club for five seasons, making over 100 appearances. He won two Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokals, and one UEFA Champions League title with Bayern Munich.

Coaching career

After retiring from playing in 2000, Strunz began his coaching career. He was appointed as the head coach of FC Ingolstadt 04 in 2003. He led the club to promotion to the 2. Bundesliga in 2008.

In 2010, Strunz left FC Ingolstadt 04 to become the head coach of Hannover 96. He was sacked by the club in 2012 after a poor run of results.

In 2013, Strunz returned to FC Ingolstadt 04 as the head coach. He led the club to promotion to the Bundesliga in 2015. The club was relegated back to the 2. Bundesliga in 2017.
