Obituary: Bob Newhart, Comedic Legend, Passes Away at 95

George Robert Newhart, a beloved American comedian and actor, has passed away at the age of 95.

Newhart was best known for his deadpan delivery and signature stammer, which brought joy to audiences for decades through his stand-up routines, television shows, and films.

Born on September 5, 1929, Newhart began his career as an accountant before venturing into comedy in the early 1960s. His unique style, characterized by a dry wit and an ability to find humor in the everyday, quickly gained him a loyal following.

Newhart's career soared to new heights with the release of his debut album, "The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart," which became a smash hit in 1960. He followed this success with several other popular albums, including "The Windmill in My Head" (1962) and "The Party" (1963), which earned him multiple Grammy Awards.

In 1961, Newhart made his television debut with "The Bob Newhart Show," a comedy-sketch series that ran for two seasons. He later starred in "Newhart" (1972-1979), a sitcom that featured him as a Vermont innkeeper. Both shows were widely acclaimed and helped solidify Newhart's status as a comedic icon.
